Advocate

Using your voice to advocate for the needs and interests of older Vermonters is another great way to give your time. In 2020, the Vermont legislature passed passed the Older Vermonters Act, sponsored by Rep. Theresa Wood and Rep. Daniel Noyes, to codify principles for a comprehensive and coordinated system of services for older Vermonters and clarifies roles of area agencies on aging and the state. These representatives have also organized an Older Vermonters Caucus with the goal of learning more about the impacts of legislation on older adults in Vermont and developing ideas to move forward on addressing issues. Learn more about the Older Vermonters Caucus and the concerns and state priorities from Commissioner Monica Hutt.
