CVCOA Receives AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Grant
Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA) is one of 130 organizations that has been selected to receive an AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP grant from AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism. The grant will expand volunteer services that help older adults age in place in Central Vermont and the Northeast Kingdom with the assistance of their partner, the Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging (NEKCOA).
Anne Greshin, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program Director, notes “AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP has been harnessing the lived experience and skills of adults age 55 and over to support older adults in Central and Northern VT since 1988. With this funding CVCOA and NEKCOA will engage nearly 600 AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers to prepare and deliver Meals on Wheels, provide free exercise classes, and provide companionship and assistance to older adults to help them stay healthy and improve the quality of their later years. This funding opportunity enhances community connections and enriches the lives of volunteers and those they serve.”
