Can You Walk the Walk?
Central Vermont Council on Aging (CVCOA) is looking for volunteers to lead walking groups for older adults in their communities. By becoming a certified Walk with Ease leader, volunteers and their walking buddies will gain all the benefits of regular walking, plus, it's fun! No experience is necessary.
Walk with Ease is a walking program designed by the Arthritis Foundation to help participants improve their mobility, reduce pain, increase balance, and improve overall health. Volunteers will lead a 1 hour weekly class for 6 weeks. Class steps are warm up, gentle stretching, walking, cool down and gentle stretch. CVCOA covers training costs including CPR certification and provides ongoing support.
Becoming a Walk with Ease leader is a great way to have fun, be physically active and connect with those in your community this summer. Volunteer leader Emily says “Leading the walking group is so much fun and really motivates me to walk every week. It’s rewarding to watch people get stronger and be able to walk further.”
