How to Change Your Plan for 2026 during Medicare Open Enrollment
Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7.
If you have Medicare, you are enrolled in either a Part D prescription drug plan OR a Part C Advantage plan (you cannot have both).
Keep an eye out for your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your Part D insurance plan or your Part C Advantage plan. If you want to or need to change your Part D or Part C Advantage Plan, you can do so during Open Enrollment.
To change your plan, you will need your original red, white, and blue Medicare card and a list of the prescription medications you take, including the dose and frequency.
Here are the ways you can change your Medicare plan for 2026 during Open Enrollment:
Have your Medicare card and list of prescriptions ready and...
- Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Medicare is open 24 hours from Oct 15th – Dec 7th per day during Open Enrollment. Be sure your list of medications are covered by the new plan.
- Look in the back of the 2026 Medicare & You book that is mailed to you at the end of September. The last pages of the annual Medicare and You handbook has the Part D and Part C Advantage plans for Vermont for 2026. If you see one you like, you can call 1-800-633-4227 to enroll or you can call the plan directly.
- Go on to the website www.medicare.gov. Click Log In and create an account. Enter your medications and the pharmacy you use. Find and compare Part D or Part C plans. Click Enroll for the plan you choose.
