Kim Lipinski Appointed to Meals on Wheels Advisory Committee
Central Vermont Council on Aging’s Kim Lipinski, Director of Nutrition and Wellness, has another achievement to share.
From awards and recognition to innovative grants, Lipinski’s work continues to benefit the local community while making a national impact. Her leadership and innovation are recognized through an appointment to a national advisory committee for nutrition at Meals on Wheels of America.
The Senior Nutrition Services Member Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives from 10 Meals on Wheels member organizations across the United States. Lipinski was invited to join the committee for 2025.
The committee will advise Meals on Wheels of America (or MOWA) as it develops trainings, new programs and other innovative features. Lipinski is well known at the organization for developing a database to share medically tailored meal recipes with up-to-date nutrition data that can be used by nutrition program chefs across the nation to meet the nutritional needs of their communities.
"It’s an honor to contribute to the future of senior nutrition on a national level," said Lipinski. "Through this advisory role, I hope to help Meals on Wheels programs across the country strengthen their ability to provide nutritious, tailored meals that truly meet the needs of older adults. Innovation in senior nutrition is essential, and I’m excited to collaborate with others who share this mission."
And the recognition doesn't end with Meals on Wheels. This April, the UVM Nutrition and Food Sciences Graduate Program presented Lipinski with an Outstanding Preceptor Certificate for her mentorship to graduate student interns who support nutrition education at CVCOA. UVM faculty noted, "Your real-world expertise and willingness to share your knowledge have been instrumental in shaping our students as future dietetics professionals. We truly appreciate the time, energy, and dedication you invested in their learning experiences."
Lipinski continues to work with dedication to support CVCOA partners, including a recent presentation to the Vermont legislature about a partnership between Salvation Farms and Meals on Wheels programs in Central Vermont and a planned facility for agricultural surplus. The facility will allow Salvation Farms to provide minimally processed food to support the implementation of medically tailored meals, enhancing meal program efficiency while reducing labor and costs for participating sites.
The MOW advisory appointment overall reflects recognition of Lipinski’s impressive vision and the impact it can have for Vermonters and older adults across the country.
