Empower Yourself this Falls Prevention Awareness Week
Falls Prevention Awareness Week is coming up, September 21-25, and CVCOA wants to help empower you to prevent a fall. Read on to learn more about the many ways you and your loved ones can prevent falls and stay active and independent.
1 – Learn six easy steps to prevent a fall and get your falls risk score with this short assessment. If you can’t watch the video, read about the 6 steps here.
2 - Talk with your doctor about falls with these tips. Don't let embarrassment keep you from talking to your doctor about falls. Whether you've fallen before or are afraid you might be at risk for a fall, asking questions now can keep you safe in the future.
3 - Learn more about the connection between bone health and falls. It is never too late to identify and treat osteoporosis or prevent falls to avoid broken bones. Understand your bone health better with this Fracture Risk Calculator.
4 – Try one of our free, evidence-based exercise classes led by our incredible volunteers! Become stronger, improve your balance, feel better, and make new friends.
