Veteran-Directed Care Program
On this Veterans Day, the staff and board at CVCOA take a moment to honor and reflect on the service of our Veterans in the community and for their willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
CVCOA’s case manager Hanna leads our agency’s work in the Veteran-Directed Care program. This VA program uses a person-centered approach to help older Veterans receive home-based services so they can continue aging in the place that they call home.
Through their social worker at the VA, veterans eligible for community care can elect to participate in this program and are then referred to CVCOA. They can select the care provider of their choice and utilize a budget from the VA to receive the services they need.
When asked about the clients she works with through the Veteran-Directed Care program, Hanna mentions how she often feels inspired by the positivity she witnesses. She is struck by the commitment one Veteran has to their spouse, who has stood by their side through challenging times and continues to support as their caregiver, and the optimism another client pursues, even amid multiple health challenges.
This Veterans Day, we honor those who have sacrificed for others. We thank you for your service.
